About OCA Founded in 1973, OCA is a national organization dedicated to advancing the social, political, and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans in the United States. OCA aims to embrace the hopes and aspirations of nearly 15 million Asian Pacific Americans in the United States. It is the first and only national Chinese American civil rights organization headquartered in D.C . OCA does not advocate support or encourage the policies or practices of any other country. OCA’s legal status is: not-for-profit, non-partisan. Nationally, it represents over 10,000 people (including affiliates, college affiliates, Young OCA, OCA Young Professionals, and general membership.) The Greater Seattle Chapter was formed in 1995. Since that time it has been serving the Greater Seattle Chinese and Asian Pacific American community as well as other communities in the Pacific Northwest. It is recognized in the local community for its tough stands on civil and voting rights as well as its sponsorship of community activities and events. In 2004 the chapter opened its office in the International District of Seattle. In both 2003 and 2004, OCA National named our chapter its Chapter of the Year. |
