Peter Kwong at Diversity Book Talk Series

The Diversity Book Talk Series was host to Peter Kwong, a professor at Hunter College and City University New York, on Thursday, November 17, 2005 at 7:00 PM. The series brings authors who write on race, diversity and multicultural issues to the University of Washington campus. The talk was sponsored by OCA -Greater Seattle and others in the advocacy community.

Mr. Kwong came to read and discuss his new book, "CHINESE AMERICA : The Untold Story of America's Oldest New Community." The book was co-authored with Du¹anka Mi¹èeviæ.

Mr. Kwong has long been known as a community activist, journalist, and pioneering scholar of Chinese American immigration and labor politics. His book has been described as “the definitive portrait of 150 years of Chinese American history…" is itself a call to action - for Chinese Americans and for anyone committed to issues of race, class, and social justice.
